We return to this prime property in Culpeper Co. for another great rifle deer hunt. Over 1000 acres of good deer habitat and also feral hogs can be taken too.

Hunt #2 - HOGUE TRACT HANDICAPPED HUNTING AREA C. F. PHELPS WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA FAUQUIER COUNTY, VA DEER HUNT 2000 SPECIAL DEER HUNT DATES:

Archery: October 23, 25, 28, 30, November 1, 4 Muzzleloader: November 6, 8, 11, 13, 15, 18 General Firearms: November 20, 22, 25, 27, 29, December 2

RULES: Two disabled hunters, disabled defined as mobility impaired due to a permanent physical condition, will be chosen by random drawing to hunt each day. Drawings are available for public inspection and will be held on October 6, 2000 at 10:00 a.m. at the Fredericksburg Regional Office. Successful applicants may be accompanied by one companion, who may hunt if properly licensed. Retrieval and field dressing of harvested game must be accomplished by hunter or companion. Successful applicants will be notified by mail and will be issued a Hunting Access Permit and a vehicle windshield parking pass. No hunt day check-in or check-out is required. Hunting hours are ½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset. Hunting will be from assigned stand only. Deer of either sex may be taken. The bag limit is two deer per day per hunter; season bag limit is three deer per hunter. No bonus tags. Other game species for which the season is open may be hunted. Weapons allowed include archery tackle, including crossbows, muzzleloading rifles, rifles and shotguns during the appropriate seasons. Crossbow users must be properly permitted, as defined in the Hunting/Trapping in VA 2000 - 2001 Regulation Booklet. After the Special Deer Hunting Season, December 4 through January 31, 2001, the Hogue Tract will be open daily for hunting, except Sundays, to properly licensed Disabled Hunters. No hunting permit or parking pass is needed. Hunting from stands is encouraged, but not required. Seasons and bag limits that apply to the Phelps WMA are in effect.
