Wild Turkey

Hunter: Karl Anderson

Place: St. Cloud, MN

Date: April, 2007

Weapon: Shotgun

Story: whacked a dandy this last spring in our Capable Partners hunt near St. Cloud, Mn. 26+ lbs, 1 ½” spurs and 10 ¼” beard. I’m mounting him in full strut. A women who had never hunted turkeys shot one the next day that was over 28 lbs after it was gutted!!!!!

It may have been a state record. The Minnesota state record for weight is 29.92 lbs. Her bird had a 12+ beard and 1 ½” spurs.

I was hunting with the wildlife manager for the WMA we were hunting at so he knows these birds very well. I shot mine from a Double Bull blind at about 10 to 15 feet. Kind of wish I had used the bow that day but Oh Well!
