Whitetail - Archery

I also shot another one even bigger last November. I'll send the pic to ya later. It was an awesome year.

"Here’s the buck I had my eye on for my first kill this year. I recently bought a Horton 150 crossbow with a cocking device, and the HD100 finger device from BE Adaptive. I think it went pretty well. Well, thanks again for giving me some ideas on a trigger finger."

I shot this buck about the end of October 2006. I shot him in Wheeling ,WV, in Ohio county. I own a few acres here. Usually I don’t get the chance for a big buck here because most of the big ones are taken during the bow season, so as soon as I found out it was legal to hunt with a crossbow here if your disabled I went to cabela’s and bought the Horton crossbow.

Story: Around 5:30 pm one evening, a few small bucks and a couple of does came in and the bucks starting fighting. A few minutes of this sparring finally spooked them all and they scattered. About 10 minutes later, I heard something coming back, I thought it was probably one of the does or the small buck so I didn’t get to too excited. Then I saw the rack! Now I was excited. It took about 5 minutes for him to get into shooting range, then I got lucky. One of the does started back down the hill and that big buck turned his head to look at her, giving me time to raise and fire. Beautiful shot through the lungs and bottom of the heart. He ran about 30 yards and dropped. After I get him back from being mounted I'll let you know the official score.

Lee

Date: October, 2006

Place: West Virginia

Weapon: Crossbow

Bio: I'm 32 yrs old and been paralyzed since i was 20 . I been hunting since I was 12 and had never shot anything nearly as big as these 2 bucks, or that I'd ever seen in this area for that matter. I doubt I'll ever have a year like that again but it'll be great trying to top it.
