Texas Hunts

TEXAS - Outdoors Without Limits Events One of OWL's newest and promising hunts, the Cuero Turkey Hunt, gives disabled persons the chance to experience the outdoors in April. Whether it's for the first time or a reintroduction into outdoor activities, OWL brings back the joy of the wild to those who are disabled. Through events like this and the annual duck hunt they host every September, OWL joins able bodied persons with disabled hunters so everyone involved can join in the fun of putting the outdoors back into their lives.

For more information on Outdoors Without Limits or to find out how you can join or help on an OWL Event, contact Drew McGuiness at 1-979-240-1661 or me at chad@followmeoutdoors.com.

TEXAS - April 8, 2006 - TURNING POINT GULF COAST hosts an annual BLACK DRUM fishing tournament in Galveston Tx. There is a nominal entry fee and lodging is available at numerous local motels. This is a big event and dinner is provided on Friday evening and lunch the following Saturday. It's loads of fun and there are a lot of great prizes to be won.

Last year the tournament was a great success but we need more physically challenged people - kids & adults. We had more boats available so let's try to fill them up this year. CALL WITH ANY QUESTIONS: contact Brent Novelli at (409) 771-0994 or David Gaston at (409) 939-4827.

TEXAS - YO Ranch Handgun hunt for December 2001 If you are interested in possibly hunting the YO SCI Handgun only hunt for the hungry, please write a little about yourself and what you do and address it to the following:

Herb Bobchin-President-North American Handgun Hunters’ Chapter
PO Box. 291 Parlin, New Jersey 08859

The NAHHC would like to invite a couple of challenged individuals to hunt this yearly event. FYI, the ranch is a little difficult to traverse in a chair, so the hunters need to be fairly independent in transfers, and manipulating some inaccessible obstacles. The accommodations are available but the restrooms are very small and difficult to use. Hunting takes place in a fair chase scenario hunting out of suburbans and other SUV’s. The Chapter allows you a $1000.00 “credit” toward a kill or a free management Whitetail or Sika deer. Management deer are 7 points and the Sika deer are 6 point. There will be a list of all available species and prices available and you can use this $1000.00 credit toward a more expensive trophy if you want.

There are several raffle items and an auction as well. Remember this is a “handgun only” hunt and many shots will require a scoped weapon. If you don’t have an adequate pistol there will be some available but be sure and find one to shoot before coming to hunt. Some shots are well over 100 yards to be successful but 100 yards is plenty for practice. Some hunters use open sights but remember it’s Texas and your chances of harvesting an animal decrease if you choose to shoot red dot or open sight weapons. All accommodations, meals and guide fees are free to the guest hunter and the only extra charge will be 40 cents a pound for the processing fee of the meat, which is donated to the “Hunters for the Hungry”. Naturally you take the head to mount but ALL meat is for charity. You may shoot two does of each species and hunt license is only required for “out of state” people except for a nominal fee for an exotic license.

The Chapter is looking for challenged hunters of high moral character and good hunting ethics who normally do not get the chance to hunt such a place as the YO. Firearm safety is very important, even more so due to the hunt being with handguns. For information about the YO visit their web site at yoranch.com. If your from out of state you would need to fly in to San Antonio which is about an hour away. There will be several people flying in so catching a ride for the airport and back should be no problem. If you drive the YO is about 17 miles west on I10 out of Kerville. If your interested write up a little something about yourself and send it to Herb and they will contact you if you get the hunt.

Safe Hunting and regards,
Don E. Murray
