Outdoors Without Limits kicked off it's Garwood Area hunt by hosting a terrific group hunt for blue-winged teal during the special 16 day season in September. This was my 7th time to host such an event, and the 1st as part of the organization Outdoors Without Limits. 10 slots were filled by hunters who made their way to El Campo and took part in a hunt they won't soon forget. As we've done every year, we have a roast duck dinner on Friday evening at Texana Seed Company in Garwood where the hunters meet with their guides and talk |

hunting strategy while enjoying some great wild game. Early next morning, we all meet at various locations and strike out for ponds that are scattered across the prairie. This year was especially eventful because we finally produced 2 Zero Gravity Rigs for two of our hunters with C-4/5 level injuries. This is a device that I'd seen about 10 years ago and have always wanted to get built for those who needed it to be able to wingshoot again. Well, we did it. And here are the pics. |

Right - (photo by Grady Allen) - TK Krpec tries his new rig on a passing flock of teal. The Zero Gravity Rig is designed to carry the weight of the gun to allow hunters with very little arm strength to be able to raise, lower and swing the gun. It holds the shotgun in a secure position and requires very little effort to operate. This was TK's first time out using this rig, and he bagged 3 ducks which is a phenomenal feat for someone less than a year out from his injury. The shotgun also has a hook attached to the butt that goes over the shoulder to keep the gun in the right place on the shoulder. The pole above the gun is designed to track the gun in any direction it swings and has a counterbalance on the back end to off set the weight of the shotgun. Anyone interested in this type of design can email me for more details. |

Outdoors Without Limits is a new organization that hosts numerous fishing & hunting trips for disabled kids & adults in SE Texas. Check their web pages for more info and how to join their endeavor. We were able to host 10 teal hunters this year, and expect to grow to 15 -20 by the time next season arrives. We were blessed with dry weather and tons of birds leading up to this year's hunt. This type of hunting is tailor made for disabled hunters because you can usually drive right up to the hunt locations and you don't have to hide that well to be able to get teal in close. Also, the temperatures are mild and most hunts are over by 9 am before it gets too hot. I can hardly wait til next year. |

Outdoors Without Limits is always looking for volunteers to either host a hunter, help on the hunt, and/or become a group member so that we can be able to put on the best events we can for the people who need it the most. Anyone interested can get in touch with me via email. |
