Our guide, Steve Wilson, has a reputation for knowing where the birds are and getting all of his hunters into the action. He didn't disappoint.

The action was as hot as an August sun. "Most whitewings i've seen since a trip to Mexico."

We took a chance and found a really good guy in Steve as well as a guide who had a lot of tremendous dove hunting fields. He did a lot of groundwork and it really paid off. Every field we were put in had a spectacular amount of birds working.

Our hunt was originally planned for Hondo, but since there weren't many doves when the Sept. 1 opener was getting close, Steve moved us to one of several cut cornfields just outside of San Antonio. And let's just say we saw plenty when we visited our field the afternoon before our hunt. Doves were pouring in from every direction.

We couldn't wait for the next day.

There were over 100 hunters and everyone had a terrific shoot, even our little group of 6. Steve was friendly and he really took care that all of his hunters saw the action. That's all you can ask of a good guide. His prices are very reasonable and you better book a slot with him mid-summer because he has a lot of repeat clients.
