Ohio Listings

Hunt #1 - Registrations for Ohio All-Expense-Paid Deer Hunting Trip Beginning July 1 and running until August 30th any current physically challenged PCBA member can submit their name into a random drawing to be held on September 2nd. This drawing will award “Twelve Lucky Hunters” the opportunity to hunt at Buck Haven, in Loudonville, Ohio for the 6th Annual PCBA-Ohio All-Expense Paid Physically Challenged Archery Deer Hunt. The “Lucky Twelve” drawn will be able to hunt both whitetail deer and/or fall turkey. (You can purchase a fall turkey tag for $24.00 or an extra deer tag for $24.00).

We will also draw six alternate hunters in case some of the original hunters drawn can’t make it at the last minute. Previous years have provided these alternates the opportunity to attend the hunt. PCBA will cover the cost of the out-of-state Ohio license (for one deer only) and lodgings for the out-of-state hunters drawn. Ohio resident hunters drawn will need to provide their own Ohio license.

A hunter’s safety card will be needed for new hunters and youth hunters drawn. Unlike the previous year’s hunts, your license will be purchased for you online when you arrive in camp. You MUST have your Social Security card and drivers license with you. (Children drawn will need a hunter’s safety card and ID number).

Food will be covered for all attendees and their aids or spouse. The only cost incurred by the “Lucky Twelve” will be their transportation cost to and from Ohio and any additional tags for either a second or third deer or turkey tags. Knox County, where the hunt is held will allow 3 deer, one buck and two doe, with the proper additional tags.

The hunt is scheduled to be held on October 12-15, 2005. Hunters will be required to arrive in Loudonville on Wednesday, October 12th and arrive at the lodge by 3 PM to site in your bows and get your licenses purchased. Last year’s hunt was a great success in that the hunters harvested 11 deer and one turkey. The deer hunting is exceptional and provides many possibilities for our hunters to take some record deer.

Hunters can use a compound bow or crossbow, which is legal in Ohio. If you use special equipment, such as locking device, we’ll need to know when you apply. Families are allowed to attend this hunt but we ask that no children under 15 years of age (unless they are one of the drawn “Lucky Twelve”) be in camp during the hunt hours of 5AM to 6 PM. They will be allowed to join their families in camp for the evening meals however. All children in camp will be the responsibility of their parents and not be permitted on any equipment.

Hunt #2 - National Wild Turkey Federation - Ohio Turkey Hunt Date: Our 2003 event begins on May 2nd and ends the 4th.

Our chapter is providing all the meals (6), tags, and we have local guides that will be with the hunters the entire weekend to take them to their hunting spots and call the birds or whatever else. It is first come, first serve.

Right now we have 40 some guides committed and probably another 20 that have to see if they can get off of work. We are actually shooting for 100 (with other surrounding NWTF chapters helping). As of now, we have 13 disabled folks committed and everyday we have more inquires. They all have various disabilities and come from all over. We have a hunter profile that I can send you. Please email randb@hiwaay.net for more info.

We need every hunter to fill out an application form and send it back so we can best team hunters and guides. Please help us spread the word. We are getting a list of local hotels with our special rate ready. We are providing camping at the Noble County Fairgrounds (the headquarters for the entire event). We are all volunteers and we want to make this event a great experience for all hunters and volunteers. The Hunt HQs is on the Noble County Fairgrounds in Caldwell, Ohio. We are located in South Eastern Ohio and we are right off of I-77. (Very easy to find). We have a lot of nice birds here and we hope to see you and a friend attend. Thank You for Your Interest, Danny.

P.S. You must be able to obtain an Ohio hunting license. Out of state is $91. We are buying the tags ($20) and if we get enough money donated we will give you a $25 discount towards your license. For License questions please call 1-800-wildlife, that is the Ohio State Division of Wildlife, and they can help answer your questions. The only other cost to you would be your transportation here and lodging if you stay in a hotel.
