Hunt #1 - Deer Either Sex OrangeCounty Hunt November15-16-17
This hunt will be on a private property in OrangeCountyNC.
The hunt will be centered around the CaldwellCommunity Center located off
Hwy 157 1 mile west of Caldwell. This hunt will be for 15 disabled hunters.
We will meet at the community center at 2PM November 15 for a safety meeting
and draw stands. Hunter will scout with their guides from 4PM to 6PM. The
kids from the local FFA and the Caldwell hunting club will host a pig picking
Thursday evening. Breakfast will be served at the community center at 5 AM
Friday morning then the hunters will go with their guides into the field.
Hunters will hunt until 11AM then return to the community center for lunch.
Hunters will go back into the field after lunch and hunt until dark Friday.
We will have dinner afterwards and all the disabled hunters have been invited
to attend a turkey shoot for the kids from the FFA. Saturday morning we will
have breakfast at 5 AM and hunters will go with their guides into the field.
Hunters will be able to hunt until 11AM then return for lunch. The hunt will
be over after lunch Saturday. Volunteers will be at the hunt to help the hunters
in any way possible. All deer harvest will be field dressed and the hide removed
and quartered for hunters to ice them down for transportation home. Bring
your coolers. Hunters are allowed to harvest two deer each day. All meals,
guides, lodging and animals harvested will be taken care of by volunteers.
When applying please let us know if you have any special needs. Apply for
the hunt with the North Carolina Handicapped Sportsmen before October so we
can draw the names of the hunters.

Hunt #3 - NC DISABLED ACCESS PROGRAM - This program allows persons with limited physical mobility to operate vehicles on open-gated or ungated roads otherwise closed to vehicular traffic on certain Game Lands and to have access to special disabled waterfowl hunting blinds. Participants will be issued permanent identification cards, companion cards, and vehicular access permits valid for as long as the disability remains. A Vehicular Access Permit must be obtained and displayed in the passenger area of the vehicle. One able-bodied companion may accompany the disabled person provided they possess the "Companion Card" issued to each disabled hunter. The companion must remain in visual or verbal contact with the disabled hunter at all times. There is no charge for this program. Qualifications: Competent medical evidence must be submitted indicating that a disability exists that limits physical mobility to the extent that normal utilization of the game lands is not possible without vehicular assistance. Currently there is a waterfowl blind for the disabled on Spring Creek impoundment of Goose Creek Game Land, and on Beaver Dam impoundment on Butner-Falls of Neuse Game Land. A Disabled Access Permit is required. NC DISABLED SPORTSMAN SPECIAL HUNT PROGRAM - Program Description: This program provides special either-sex deer hunts to persons with specific disabilities as outlined in legislation passed by the 1993 General Assembly. Participants will be issued annual identification cards and vehicle access permits for use during the special hunts. One able-bodied companion may accompany the disabled person provided they possess the "Companion Card" issued to each disabled hunter. There will be a $10.00 annual fee for processing and administering the hunts. Participants may renew their participation in the program annually as long as the qualifying disability exists. A renewal application will appear on the back of the Disabled Sportsman's permit and must be completed and returned with the $10.00 fee for participation the following year. Qualifications: In order to participate in this program, an applicant must have medical certification in one of the following disabilities: Amputation of one or more limbs; Paralysis of one or more limbs; Dysfunction of one or more limbs rendering the person unable to perform the task of grasping and lifting with the hands and arms or unable to walk without mechanical assistance, other than a cane; Disease, injury, or defect confining the person to a wheelchair, walker, or crutches; Legal deafness (qualifies a person only for hunts, not special access).
