Mississippi Hunts

MISSISSIPPI - I have a landowner that wishes to take a few youths with disabilites or life threating illness on a terrific hog hunting trip. The place is located in east Mississippi and has an abundance of free ranging wild boar. The hogs are like none I have ever seen. They are almost a pure europian strain, not feral. These bad boys can weight up to 400 pounds. Hunting can be done with rifle or black powder over food plots or feeders. The tentative dates will be on a weekend around the first of March 2001. Buckmasters American Deer Foundation will pay travel expenses to the hunt. Lodging and food will be provided. If you have someone who is interested in this hunt please email the information below to David Sullivan at dsullivan@buckmasters.com as soon as possible. We will select hunters within the next week or so.

Provide: Name; Address; Phone; Age; Type of Injury or Illness; Describe Physical Condition; Are they in a wheelchair? Ever taken a hog before?

Thanks, David Sullivan

MISSISSIPPI - Sign Up Now for FREE Blackpowder Disabled Hunt! Buckmasters Mid-South One-Shot Chapter out of Memphis, Tennessee, folks in Mississippi are gearing up for possibly the biggest physically disabled hunt in the nation. The Arkabutla Physically Challenged Deer Hunt is held the first full week of each December, and last year more than 60 hunters from across the

country took part in this inspiring event. Hunters came from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arkansas and Oklahoma -- this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

While December seems like a long way off, the registration deadline for this hunt is Sept. 7. The actual hunting days will be Dec. 3-8, broken down into two 3-day hunts.

Each hunter is permitted to harvest one buck and two does, and blackpowder rifles are required. Hunters must be paraplegic, quadriplegic or ambulatory with crutches. The hunt takes place on 57,000 acres of U.S. Army Corp. of Engineers property near Arkabutla Lake. This land is not open to hunting otherwise. Even better, there is no fee for the hunt, and no out-of-state license is required.

Hunters are encouraged to have a sponsor provide $50 to the Arkabutla Physically Challenged Association to help offset some of their costs in preparing and organizing the event.
