From Hunt Coordinator Cam Tribolet:
We have just received the confirmed dates and updated information for the upcoming rifle hunt in Kansas. Just to refresh your memory, the hunt information is as follows:
The hunt will again take place with Doug and Chelle Eden of Trails-Cross Outfitters in Fort Scott, Kansas. We have hunted with the Eden family for the last 3 rifle seasons and have taken several terrific deer, and have always had some fun with the family.
The rifle hunt will begin on Thursday December 2nd, and end on Saturday, December 4th. You will need to arrive Thursday around 11:00 that morning, check your rifles, and be ready to hunt that afternoon. The hunt will end after the Saturday evening hunt.
The cost of the hunt is $950.00 which will cover your landowner trespass fee. A change to this years hunt will be a trophy fee of $2.00 an inch. For example: if the hunter takes a 140 inch buck (gross score including inside spread), your additional cost of the hunt will be $280.00.
Your hunt includes 5 different outings for a chance at a buck, you’ll be picked up and brought back to the ranch for lunch. Once we’ve filled up on a home cooked meal, we’ll return to the field for the afternoon hunt. A volunteer will accompany up to 2 hunters to their ground blinds. The volunteer will also be available to retrieve your buck and do the field care of the animal.
What is NOT included in your hunt is lodging, breakfast & dinner, processing, and travel expenses. Lodging is available nearby in Fort Scot and the costs range from $40.00 to $60.00 per night. The Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks has just released the Applications for download from their website. A non-resident tag for this year is $221.00. Your application, along with your $221.00 application fee, is required to be sent in to the KDWP no later than May 31st.
The drawing for the hunt should be posted sometime in July. Please visit www.kdwp.state.ks.us/hunting/deerfaq.html for more state required information. All perspective applicants must contact me via e-mail prior to submitting their application to Kansas. When the applications are sent in to the state of Kansas, a 50% deposit for the hunt must be mailed to my attention to secure your spot. If you are unsuccessful in drawing a tag, your deposit will be returned to you. The state of Kansas will return your application fee, minus a state administration fee. If you are unsuccessful in drawing a tag, a landowner transferable tag may be available for purchase.
