My favorite type of fishing happens here on the shallower tidal flats where saltwater gamefish can be found. It's no secret that saltwater is where
the best action is, and there's nothing like a good drag whining to wake you
up in the morning. Light tackle fishing was a lot easier to do than i first thought. All i needed was a little dermiform tape to secure my hand to the rod and one arm on my chair, with extra padding, and I could operate my rod and reel just fine. One of the very few cases where the first idea was the best idea. |

Below are some pics from my latest trip to Florida where we spent a few days fishing for red fish, flounder, and whatever we might come across. Or see my trip with Florida guide Ron Schurr here. This is still the simplest adaptation because you need to figure out is how to keep the rod tight to one hand. There are a bunch of different types of equipment depending on your of disability. See my links below to see some other kinds of adaptations. Getting into boats like this one are usually a case of going up and down one step, and most shallow runners have enough room for a chair up front. Check out Fishing Page 2 to see how my buddy Mark adapted his flats fishing boat into an accessible vessel. Here he is below showing off some of his handywork. |

Above - Taken during a trip to Florida with captain Steve Hair. Below - A pic from the same trip taken with a flounder I landed. Later we had a nice encounter with an endangered Florida manatee. It is a very gentle , but huge, creature that let my dad scratch his belly. |
